COWES CLASSIC REGATTA 2023 / 8 JULY – 14TH JULY 2023 / 7 DAYS / REGATTA

EVE will be taking place in the famous Cowes classic yacht regatta week,  where 100- 200 boats will be racing in the Solent.  

Celebrating its 16th year, Cowes Classics Week is all about racing traditional yachts on the water and enjoying fabulous social events ashore. And with Eve been one of the most historical classic racing boats, we will feel right at home! 

120 boats will be sailing varied courses set in the Solent including Metre boats, Classic Racing Dayboats, Classic Yachts, Old Gaffers and Spirit of Tradition Yachts. Racing will run from the 8th July to the 14th July 2023 and there will be two races a day or three if weather conditions permit. 

The event attracts a wide variety of classic yachts ranging from fleets of one-design dayboats, to unique classics from a bygone era.

The week will hold many social parties held at different club venues as well as a gala awards ceremony to celebrate the sailing. 

.Your experience onboard Eve will start on the first day of the regatta week around Englands famous water ways, the Solent.

During the Race week you will have a great time flying around the solent, as well as learning about the safety onboard, race crew roles, and the basics of race sailing including main, mizzen and jib set, tack, gybe, reef, downwind pole, asymmetric and symmetric spinnakers packing, hoisting, trimming and mizzen staysail.

This regatta is open to everyone, including those with no previous experience. We usually have onboard 5 professional sailors to provide you with expert advice and assistance, if required.

The racing in the day is complemented by a great social atmosphere, including live entertainment, back at the Cowes yacht Club after racing, adding to the overall experience.

Discount entry for Cowes Classics Week ends soon

Those wishing to benefit from a discount when they enter for Cowes Classics Week 2023 may still do so, but time is running out.  The discount ends at midnight on Wednesday 31 st May.

Cowes Classics Week this year will run from Saturday 8 th July to Friday 14 th July, with racing from the 10 th to the 14 th .  It’s the world’s biggest classic yacht regatta of its kind and is open to classic yachts built in wood or steel before 1975, or GRP yachts designed at least 50 years ago.  All classic S&S-designed yachts including Swans and S&S 34s, regardless of design date, are invited.  Spirit of Tradition yachts designed to classic lines are also welcomed.  There will be a non-spinnaker division for classic yachts above 30’ in length.

An exciting programme of social events has just been finalised and participants can book them now.  Some events are fully booked every year, so it’s always a good idea to book early.  The social programme this year starts with a barbeque at the host club on Saturday 8 th July and runs right through to the Survivors’ Curry Supper on Friday 14 th July.  One of the great attractions of Cowes Classics Week is that despite its size, it retains the character of a club-hosted regatta.  Indeed, all of the yacht clubs in Cowes open their doors at some time during the week to host an event.  This year participants will also be able to enjoy the hospitality of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club in Wootton Creek, the club which hosted the 1908 Olympic sailing events and inspired the creation of Cowes Classics Week following a centenary regatta in 2008.

If you’re planning to join in the fun, be sure to get to Cowes in time to enjoy Cowes Classics Day on Sunday 9 th July, where visitors will see a host of classic cars and boats on the doorstep of the RLYC.  More attractions are planned for Cowes Classics Day this year and will be announced shortly.
