There has been no identification of the bodies found or confirmation of their gender, says  news correspondent Ashna Hurynag.

Eight divers from all over Italy have been working meticulously over the last two days to find them, she says.

In total there are between 20 and 50 emergency personnel involved, with "no expense spared in the resources trying to find and recover those people".

The divers have been sending back key information to a command centre on the harbourside, who are pouring over drawings and diagrams.

"There was a real sense of concern that those six missing people may have been trapped in those cabins," says Hurynag.

"We knew that there was a lot of furniture as the boat capsized and sunk beneath the water, and the fear was that that some of that furniture had been trapping those inside."

Back on dry land are 15 survivors of "what can only be described as an incredibly traumatic incident".

"For those people who've been on this luxury holiday, for it to all end in this way is truly, truly frightening."

Two bodies have been found in the search for survivors of the sunken Bayesian yacht.

The identities of the pair are not yet known.

The vessel sunk in the early hours of Monday morning off Palermo following a violent storm.

Several boats were seen leaving the port of Porticello and heading to the site of the sinking just before 3.30pm today.

They are the second and third victims of the shipwreck to be found. The body of the superyacht's chef, Recaldo Thomas, was discovered shortly after the vessel sank.

It means there are still four people unaccounted for from the 22 that were on board at the time of the Bayesian's sinking.

According to Italian newspaper la Repubblica, the two bodies were found inside the boat behind two mattresses.

Sky News has not independently verified the reports.

Many experts have expressed their surprise at the speed in which the Bayesian sunk, with eyewitnesses saying it had disappeared under the water within 60 seconds.

For that to happen, retired Royal Navy commander Tom Sharpe told Sky News, one of three things must have occurred.

"There's either an underwater valve failure, you hit something and it tears a gash in you, or you managed to create conditions where water can come in over the side, in through scuttles and in through upper deck doors," he said.

"And I suspect, and again, I'm speculating, that that's what happened on this occasion. I also suspect that the ship wasn't battened down quite as it should have been for really bad weather.

"At which point you can get waves breaking over the side and water inside the boat, which can change your stability very quickly and make it exponentially worse."

For the search and rescue teams looking for survivors, one of the biggest challenges facing them could be the motion of the Bayesian on the seabed.

"I suspect one of the things that's hampering them is there will still be a lot of motion," Mr Sharpe says.

"The boat will be moving on the seabed as the waves above it and the tide above it moves it around."

Naval architect and marine surveyor David Cannell believes the keel, the fin-like structure under the hull, could be key to why the yacht sank.

The Bayesian had a retractable keel - which helps stabilise boats and acts as a counterweight to the mast.

Experts have speculated whether the vessel was anchored with the keel up, reducing its depth under water from around 10m to 4m and making it less stable.

Speaking to Sky News, Mr Cannell says if the keel was lifted and the vessel had high wind on the mast, it's possible that it "exceeded her stability parameters" because "she had no counterbalancing".

"Perhaps that's why she went over at near 90 degrees," he says.

The yacht's captain was questioned for more than two hours by prosecutors who have opened an investigation into the shipwreck, according to reports.

James Cutfield, 51,  who is from New Zealand, was quizzed until late yesterday evening to help reconstruct what happened and provide useful technical details, reports the Italian news agency ANSA.

His brother Mark earlier told the New Zealand Herald he was a "very good sailor" and "very well respected" in the Mediterranean.

Magistrates are said to be also questioning the survivors inside the Domina Zagarella hotel in Santa Flavia, where they are staying.

Divers who took part in rescue missions during the Costa Concordia cruise ship tragedy have arrived in Porticello to aide the search for the six missing Bayesian tourists, reports Giornale Di Sicilia

Their expertise has been called upon to help open and inspect passenger cabins, where the tourists were thought to be trapped by furniture and other objects on board the yacht.

More than 4,000 passengers and crew were onboard the Costa Concordia when it struck rocks in January 2012, causing a 70-metre gash that allowed water to pour in.

The ship eventually capsized and came to rest on its side at a location known as Seagull Point, just outside the harbour on the island of Giglio, Italy.

Some 32 people died and 157 passengers suffered from post-traumatic stress.

The search for the six people still missing still feels like a rescue operation rather than a salvage operation, former Royal Navy submarine captain Ryan Ramsey tells Sky News.

He describes the "incredible pressure" at the site of the wreck, nearly 50m underwater, with the dark and cold further hampering the work of the divers.

"It's very risky," he says and believes the operation is moving into a different stage because the short spells by dive teams are not working.

Underwater drones have now been deployed (see post at 11.37am), which Mr Ramsey describes as "amazing pieces of technology".

He says while air pockets still provide hope that more survivors will be found the "build up of carbon dioxide that you're breathing out will eventually kill you".

Images show boats carrying search and rescue crews returning to Porticello Harbour.

Divers and underwater drones have been searching for the six missing people this morning.

Meanwhile, a new picture of the Bayesian superyacht that sank on Monday has also emerged.

Another of the 15 survivors has been confirmed as Dutch national Tjis Koopmans.

Mr Koopmans, pictured in a white shirt leaving the coastguard headquarters on Monday, is thought to have been a member of the crew.

The yacht was carrying 10 crew members and 12 passengers when it capsized.

One crew member was confirmed dead: Chef Recaldo Thomas, a Canadian-Antiguan national.

Six passengers remain missing.

Divers have reached the area where the cabins are located, according to reports.

The spaces inside the ship are extremely narrow and difficult to manoeuvre within, Italian news outlet Corriere Della Sera said.

Objects floating in the water have made it "difficult to fully explore the cabins".

As such, there is no news as of yet on the missing tourists, who are thought to be inside the cabins, the media site reported.

Bayesian yacht and pictures of Mike Lynch, Jonathan Bloomer and Chris Morvillo who are missing after the sailboat sank.

Rescue divers scouring the wreck of tech magnate Mike Lynch’s Bayesian yacht which sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday have found two bodies inside it, a source close to the investigation has said.

The names or sex of the deceased, who are the second and third victims recovered following the disaster, were not immediately revealed, but the source told Reuters news agency one belonged to a heavily built man. Search teams have been looking for six missing people, including Mr Lynch , his 18-year-old daughter Hannah and Jonathan Bloomer, a non-executive chair of Morgan Stanley International.

The British-flagged 184-ft superyacht was carrying 22 people when it capsized during a fierce storm while anchored off the port of Porticello, near Palermo. The update comes after divers managed to break a window and enter the sunken boat. They have been using specialist underwater drones to help with the operation having previously been limited to 12-minute turnarounds working at a depth of nearly 50ft.

Two bodies have been found in ship’s wreckage

Divers scouring the wreck of the Bayesian yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily have found the bodies of two of the six passengers who were missing, a source has told Reuters.

The boat, owned by the wife of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch, was carrying 22 passengers and crew and was anchored off the port of Porticello, near Palermo, when it capsized during a fierce, pre-dawn storm on Monday.

One of the bodies has been described as a ‘heavily built man’, according to the news agency.

Details have not yet been given of about the second body.

Survivors ‘turned down offer of psychological support’

Each of the 15 survivors of the Bayesian shipwreck declined the offer of psychological support for their ordeal, it has been reported.

Salvo Cocina, president of the Civil Protection Agency in Sicily, told MailOnline: ‘We wanted to make sure that everyone was offered every kind of help they might need, but no-one from the passengers or the crew accepted counselling.’

He added that the search operation is still underway, saying ‘we don’t differentiate between rescue and recovery in these circumstances, because the people are still in the boat’.

Mr Cocina went on: ‘The divers have not yet reached the cabins, so we have not yet given up hope that there may be air pockets in their keeping them alive.’

Divers close to reaching yacht’s cabins – report

Divers have reached the area where the cabins are located, Corriere Della Sera is reporting.

The spaces inside the vessel are extremely narrow and difficult to manoeuvre in, while floating debris has also made it ‘difficult to fully explore the cabins’, the Italian newspaper adds.

Divers enter yacht after ‘breaking window’

Divers from the local fire service were seen entering the water with torches attached to their headgear at the site of the shipwreck on Wednesday afternoon.

A police boat and divers were also seen entering the water.

The boats spent a short time at the scene before heading back to the nearby port.

A helicopter hovered overhead.

Superyacht sunk by freak weather conditions in ‘black swan event’ – expert

The sinking of the superyacht was likely caused by a water spout in a ‘black swan’ event, a maritime expert has said.

Matthew Schanck, chair of the Maritime Search and Rescue Council, said the Bayesian had been the victim of freak weather conditions.

‘So, we’ve got this high impact, but low probability event. And even outside of the maritime industry, all industries struggle with the black swan events,’ he said.

A ‘black swan’ event refers to an unforeseen occurrence that typically has extreme consequences.

Mr Schanck went on: ‘The authorities, I’ve got faith, will get to the bottom of that because there are the eyewitness accounts from the shore and the other vessels.

‘There are obviously survivors from the vessel, (and) the wreckage is also intact on the seabed. So, we’ll be able to use those three sources to really get to the bottom of what has happened.’

Doctor gives heartbreaking update on survivors of the Bayesian boat tragedy

Dr Domenico Cipolla, head of paediatric care at the Di Cristina Children’s Hospital in Palermo, said survivors of the disaster ‘are constantly asking about the missing people’.

He said: ‘To my knowledge, there is only one body that has been found. The others are still missing.

‘We have given the survivors this information. But they are talking and crying all the time because they have realised that there is little hope of finding their friends alive.’

Mother was sleeping on the deck when storm hit

A British mother who was onboard the Bayesian ship was sleeping on the deck with her daughter when the storm hit the yacht, a doctor has said.

Head of paediatric care at the Di Cristina Children’s Hospital in Palermo, Dr Domenico Cipolla, said Charlotte Golunski, a partner at venture capitalist firm Invoke Capital, was asleep when a ‘ waterspout ’ tore through the sea in the early hours of Monday morning, prompting the boat to sink.

Charlotte and her daughter were rescued along with 15 others. Six other passengers, including Mike Lynch and Jonathan Bloomer, remain missing.

Dr Cipolla told Sky News : ‘She said that she was sleeping with the child on deck while her husband was a little further away in another part of the boat and she felt the oscillations of the ship,” Dr Domenico Cipolla said.

‘In an instant it was dark and she found herself in the water in just a few minutes. She said she tried to hold on to the child but lost the child from her grip for three seconds.

‘She then managed to catch her in the water.’

Mike Lynch’s disappearance is a ‘Shakespearean tragedy’

The disappearance of billionaire Mike Lynch as he celebrated clearing his name after a 12-year legal fight is a ‘Shakespearean sort of tragedy’, one of his friends has said.

British entrepreneur Brent Hoberman described asking his friend of nearly 30 years about his fraud trial in the US, where he was accused of inflating the value of his company Autonomy when he sold it to tech firm Hewlett-Packard in 2011.

Speaking to Sky News, he recalled asking ‘the coward’s question’ about moving somewhere where he could not be extradited, only for Mr Lynch to insist he would ‘stand his ground’ despite the ‘0.5% chance he was given’.

‘What an ordeal. This is a Shakespearean sort of tragedy,’ Mr Hoberman said.

‘Somebody who spent 12 years defending their name, they just clear their name, they are going on a trip with the team who helped them do that to celebrate and then a sort one in one million disaster hits their boat.’

He added that he still hopes Mr Lynch ‘will have an amazing second act’: ‘God, what an amazing ending that would be.’

Guests ‘should have been woken up and given life jackets’

A weather expert has suggested crew members on the Bayesian should have woken up guests and given them life jackets during the storm which sunk the superyacht.

Luca Mercalli, a leading Italian climatologist, said they should have paid closer attention to the weather alerts issued by the authorities and prepared passengers accordingly.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: ‘I don’t know if there was anyone on board consulting the radar.

‘Let’s say that if I had been on board, at the first sign of a thunderstorm I would have woken up all the occupants and been ready and alert with life jackets on until the storm was over.’

Prof Mercalli told the newspaper the weather radar made it possible to estimate intense thunderstorms within 15 to 30 minutes.

The Italian Coast Guard returns to Porticello Harbour on the Sicilian coast on the third day of the search for six tourists missing after the luxury yacht Bayesian sank in a storm on Monday whilst moored around half a mile off the coast of Porticello. The Italian Coastguard has not ruled out the possibility that those missing may still be alive, with experts speculating that air pockets could have formed as the yacht sank. However, another expert has questioned whether the vessel had effective radar coverage at the time of the tragedy.

Francesco De Martin, an expert on extreme weather events at the University of Bologna, told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera: ‘Radar is the best tool, but we checked and the area of the accident has patchy radar coverage.

‘It’s not certain that they had this information. The radar anticipates the arrival of a strong storm by 10 to 15 minutes, perhaps too little to manoeuvre the boat and get to safety.’

Survivors searched for loved ones amid ‘apocalyptic scenes’

Dr Fabio Genco, from the Palermo Emergency Medical Services, treated survivors of the disaster when they were brought ashore on Monday.

Speaking to BBC’s Newsnight last night, he said his main concern was for the one-year-old baby daughter of James Emsley and Charlotte Emsley (Golunski) in case she had ingested any saltwater.

He said: ‘The word that the mother and all the injured kept repeating was “darkness” – the darkness that they experienced during the shipwreck.

‘They spoke of around five minutes – three to five minutes – from the moment the boat was lifted, raised by the waves of the sea, until it sank.

‘It was a tragic scene because there was this shock related to the search for their friends, family members and relatives.

‘There were truly apocalyptic scenes where everyone was searching and hoping to find the people who at that moment were not present or just missing.’

Search enters its third day

Inspections of the sunken yacht’s hull have taken place on Wednesday morning.

Search crews arrived at 6.30am local time (5.30am BST), with a boat carrying divers seen leaving Porticello at around 10.30am (9.30am BST).

Fire crews say they are accessing the yacht through natural entrances, without making openings.

Rescuers using remote-controlled underwater vehicles to access yacht

Divers are using a remote-controlled underwater vehicle, or ROV, to help in the search.

They can work on the seabed for longer than the rescue teams, who can only spend around 12 minutes underwater. By the time they reach the Bayesian, they only have around 10 minutes to search it.

Mike Lynch’s daughter Hannah gained Oxford place

School friends of Hannah Lynch are ‘in shock’ after she disappeared alongside her tech billionaire father when his luxury yacht suddenly sank.

A spokesperson at the prestigious Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith, west London, said: ‘We are all incredibly shocked by the news that Hannah and her father are among those missing in this tragic incident and our thoughts are with their family and everyone involved as we await further updates.’

The 18-year-old had recently finished her A-Levels and was bound for Oxford to study English before the tragedy.

Hannah was a gifted pupil while at the £25,000-a-year school, winning several awards including outstanding academic achievement while in lower sixth form and the William C Smith award for poetry, MailOnline reports.

‘World of objects’ in way of divers searching yacht’s hull

Italian fire department diver Marco Tilotta said search and rescue teams have been going ‘centimetre by centimetre’ to try and get into the 237ft vessel but ‘access is difficult’.

He said: ‘If you can get into the hull, you can see that there is a world of objects inside.

‘It is difficult to get in inside, to get down the narrow stairs, and to go into all the cabins and analyse (everything) centimetre per centimetre.

‘We will not stop. We have both the resources, the men and the equipment. Our goal is to find all the people who missed the alarm.’

Freak wave could have flooded yacht – reports

Investigators are examining whether Mike Lynch’s superyacht sunk after a freak wave caused water to flood in through an open hatch or door, according to reports in Italy.

They are trying to work out how the vessel went down in just 60 seconds despite a smaller boat around 100m away remained intact, La Repubblica reports.

The hull and main mast of the Bayesian are undamaged and there are no signs of any collision, the newspaper says.

It adds that the current prevailing theory is that a freak wave sent a deluge of water into the boat – possibly through a door or hatch that had been left open – causing it to immediately lose balance and sink.

Sunken superyacht: What we know so far

British tech magnate Mike Lynch and five others are missing, feared dead after their luxury yacht sank in a tornado off the Sicilian coast.

The luxury vessel – named the Bayesian – was moored half-a-mile off the coast of Porticello when it sank around 5am local time on Monday.

Rescue efforts are currently underway, with Vincenzo Zagarola of the Italian Coastguard saying authorities believe the missing six people are likely to be trapped inside the boat.

– Who is involved and why were they there?

Technology tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hanna – who had recently finished her A-Levels and was bound for Oxford – remain missing.

Also unaccounted for are Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley and insurance company Hiscox, and his wife, Judy, a respected psychotherapist; as well as Chris Morvillo, a lawyer from Clifford Chance and part of the legal team representing Mr Lynch, and his wife, Neda, who reportedly runs a luxury jewellery line.

The body of a man was recovered near the yacht, believed to be that of chef Recaldo Thomas, a Canadian-Antiguan man working onboard.

Fifteen of the 22 people onboard – including Mr Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares – were rescued after escaping onto a lifeboat.

The Telegraph reported Mr Lynch had guests from the legal firm that represented him and his own company to join him on the voyage.

Among others rescued were Charlotte Golunkski and her one-year-old daughter Sophie. The brave mother kept her daughter alive by holding her over her head while she was in the water.

– How did the boat sink?

Italian authorities have reported bad stormy conditions that caused the yacht to sink, but investigations into the exact circumstances of the tragedy remain ongoing.

It is believed the luxury vessel may have been hit by a water spout, a rotating column of wind that forms over a body of water and is often likened to a tornado.

According to the US National Ocean Service, tornadic weather spouts have the ‘same characteristics’ as a land tornado and are often accompanied by severe thunderstorms, ‘high winds and seas, large hail, and frequent dangerous lightning’.

– What search and rescue efforts are underway?

Vincenzo Zagarola of the Italian Coastguard said the six missing tourists were feared dead.

Asked about their likelihood of being alive, he said: ‘Never say never, but reasonably the answer should be not.’

Italy’s fire brigade Vigili del Fuoco said it developed a plan to enter the wreckage of Bayesian, which is resting on the seabed off the coast at a depth of 50 metres. It described the operation as ‘complex’, with divers limited to 12-minute underwater shifts.

Firefighter divers reached parts of the vessel through the gap, Giornale Di Sicilia reported on Tuesday, but are yet to make it to the cabins.

Dr Jean-Baptiste Souppez, a senior lecturer of mechanical, biomedical and design engineering at Aston University, said the next 24 hours are ‘crucial’ to find survivors trapped inside the wreck.

‘The speed at which the vessel sank (a few minutes, according to survivor and witness accounts) and the fact that it remains intact and on its side could favour the formation of small air pockets inside,’ he said.

‘This is obviously highly speculative and impossible to predict accurately.’

Rescuers could be looking for signs of life including banging noises at regular intervals.

– What do we know about the Bayesian?

The 56-metre sailing boat was launched by Italian shipbuilder Perini Navi in 2008, according to the company website.

It was once called the Salute, but was later renamed after Lynch’s PhD thesis on statistical theory by mathematician Thomas Bayes.

Media reports suggest the yacht’s owner is listed as Revtom Limited, a company owned by Mr Lynch’s wife.

Air pockets could have formed on Bayesian yacht

The brother of missing Jonathan Bloomer, a Morgan Stanley boss, has said there might be air pockets on the Bayesian shipwreck.

Jeremy Bloomer told the BBC: ‘It’s a slow process and it will take time. So there might be air pockets, but we don’t know. It’s still wait and see, so fingers crossed.’

An engineering expert has also said air pockets are a possibility.

Dr Jean-Baptiste Souppez, a senior lecturer of mechanical, biomedical and design engineering at Aston University, told Sky News the fact that the vessel sank at speed and remained intact on its side ‘could favour the formation of small air pockets inside.’

‘This is obviously highly speculative and impossible to predict accurately,’ he added.

The rescue teams will be listening out for a banging noise at regular intervals, he said.

‘This is common practice on submarines and was one of the signs the search mission for the Titan submarine was looking for after it went missing last year,’ Dr Souppez said.

However, the Italian coastguard said yesterday the missing were unlikely to be alive, the outlet reports.

Vincenzo Zagarola from the coastguard said: ‘Never say never, but reasonably the answer should be not.’

Bayesian chef described as ‘most supportive in the industry’

Ricardo Thomas

More and more tributes have been pouring in for Ricardo Thomas after the Italian coastguard discovered his body in the water off coast of Sicily.

Facebook has been flooded with posts from his families and friends, saying their last goodbyes to the chef.

Sharing pictures of parties, dinners and travels, loved ones described him as ‘the smiliest, friendliest, most supportive chef in the yachting industry’.

Flora Pickard posted on Facebook: ‘Looking at the moon shining bright for you Recaldo Thomas. I was so honoured to have you as a shoulder, as a hug every time I saw you, as a smile as a super friend – all over the world.

‘I am going to miss you like crazy dude! Cheers to the legend!’

Erica Lay wrote: ‘RIP to lovely chef Recaldo Thomas who touched the hearts of many over his vastly diverse and lengthy career at sea, and left lasting memories for all who crossed his path.

‘I know someone was up there was waiting for you with a large rum and a hug whilst his feet were tippy tapping my friend.’

Why did the superyacht Bayesian sink?

Hatches and doors left open overnight on the superyacht may have caused it to capsize, a sailing expert has said.

Sam Jefferson, editor of magazine Sailing Today, said that such incidents are ‘incredibly rare’, describing the chances of a vessel being hit by a waterspout as ‘minuscule’.

It is believed the vessel was struck by a tornado over the water, known as a waterspout.

Weather records show temperatures reached around 33C the day before the sinking, which may have led to the people on board to leave the doors open.

Mr Jefferson said: ‘I would have said that the boat got hit very hard by the wind, it was pinned over on its side.

‘I imagine all the doors were open because it was hot, so there were enough hatches and doors open that it filled with water very quickly and sank like that.

‘The reason it got pinned over so hard was because the mast is huge. It acted almost like a sail. (It) pushed the boat hard over on its side.

‘(The boat) filled with water before it could right. This is all speculation, but that’s the only logical explanation.’

In pictures: Divers facing rescue challenge in Sicily

Specialist divers continued their search for six people who remain missing in the water.

Divers of the Vigili del Fuoco, the Italian Corps. of Firefighters, are pictured on a small boat in Porticello near Palermo, on August 20, 2024 a day after the British-flagged luxury yacht Bayesian sank. Specialist divers launched a fresh search for six people, including UK tech tycoon Mike Lynch and the chairman of Morgan Stanley International, missing since their yacht capsized off the Italian island of Sicily. The Bayesian, which had 22 people aboard including 10 crew, was anchored some 700 metres from port before dawn when it was struck by a waterspout, a sort of mini tornado. Fifteen people aboard, including a mother with a one-year-old baby, were plucked to safety; one man has been found dead; and six people remain missing. Your wishes are key

Depending on the boat, the offer may change. Welcome drinks, towels and snorkelling equipment are included on all boats.  To view the specific offer for each boat, please click directly on the pictures on the website. Additionally, PDF files can be sent by email or WhatsApp on your request.  IMPORTANT :  The fuel, the captain’s fee and the 21% VAT are  not  included.

You can choose your boat directly from our homepage or get in touch for additional models that are not displayed on the website.

For bookings and non binding consultations you can reach out by phone/WhatsApp (+34 642 453 952) or by filling out the form on the website.

In order to find the perfect boat for your needs, please provide us with the dates, the budget and the number of passengers.

The payment is split in two amounts. The deposit and reservation payment, 50% of the price, is to be paid by bank transfer. In order to be able to reserve the boat, this payment needs to be transferred immediately after the trip confirmation.

The remaining 50% of the amount, as well as the fuel and any extras is to be payed on the charter day by credit card or cash.

In order to reserve the boat, we need a deposit payment of 50% of the charter price, which is to be paid immediately after the trip confirmation by bank transfer.

Due to the daily fluctuation of fuel prices and specific motor hours, the total sum can only be calculated at the end of the trip. Therefore fuel expenses are paid at the check-out.

Whenever possible, we’ll reschedule your charter day. In case that’s not feasible, we will of course, issue a full refund of your deposit payment.

A normal charter day takes about 8 hours.  We recommend boarding between 10AM and 12PM to make the most out of your charter day! You will be back in the port around 7PM, or latest at 8PM.  If you wish to end the trip earlier, that is absolutely always possible.

There are no  refunds for  short-term  cancellations, as the boat can’t be booked by anyone else when reserved.  For early changes please contact our charter department directly!

Absolutely! You’re free to bring your own food and drinks on board.

On request, you can also pre-order lunch boxes with us, or we can book a reservation in a restaurant on your behalf.

Amid blossoming mango and fig-laden trees hides a melting pot of captivating calas , where you can uncover seldom-visited silky arcs of sand and float in mellow waters caressed by the gentle Mediterranean .

An insider’s guide to Ibiza yacht charters: the beaches and beats of the Balearics

Guests on an Ibiza yacht charter vacation can choose to embrace the island’s hedonistic side in its numerous bars and beach clubs, with some of the best found in San Antonio and on the celebrated sands of Las Salinas . Here you can truly indulge your party animal, alongside a raft of A-listers and hip elites who all convene under the sets of world-class DJs for night-long fiestas till sunrise. Throughout summer there are also numerous festivals which locals celebrate with fireworks, including the magnificent pyrotechnic display every August that celebrates the fiesta of Saint Bartholomew , with superyacht guests enjoying the best views from the sea.

For those looking for something more tranquil, there are myriad secluded anchorages and private golden-hued bays to be found peppered around the outskirts of the island, with some of the best beaches only accessible by yacht, such as the orange-scented Es Cubells known for its authentic quality restaurants and beautiful clear waters, and Sa Cova de Xarraca – a curve of golden sands set in a beautiful deep and turquoise bay, tucked away around the rocks from its slightly busier cousin Cala Zarraca in the north of the island.

Life's a beach: the 10 best beach clubs in Ibiza for 2024

The most harmonious union with an Ibiza yacht charter naturally involves cruising to its sensational sister islands. Mallorca , the biggest isle of them all, is a hive of activity that dazzles with its luxe marinas and a spellbinding number of beaches (262 of them in fact). Calmer Menorca is teeming with barely-frequented coves and thrilling diving spots, whilst diminutive Formentera fascinates with its Caribbean-like appearance.

Alternatively, for those looking to incorporate mainland Spain, Barcelona , Valencia or Dénia are all superyacht hotspots

Who Goes on an Ibiza Yacht Charter?

Ibiza is the glittering jewel in the Balearics’s treasure chest, representing the perfect combination of hedonism and tranquillity – where you’ll find buzzy beach clubs and upscale dining vying for your attention with beautiful sand beaches lapped by clear turquoise waters. On top of this, visitors can immerse themselves in the island’s rich cultural history in Ibiza’s glorious Old Town.

The island attracts many A-listers and Hollywood glitterati, who come here to soak up the superyacht lifestyle and luxurious atmosphere in a medley of 5-star resorts, wellness spas and exclusive night clubs.

Part of the “Fabulous Four” in the Balearics archipelago, Ibiza was originally founded by Phoenician settlers in 654 BC and became a regular stop on the Mediterranean trade route, producing goods such as dye, salt and wool. Over the centuries Ibiza has been conquered by the likes of the Romans, Moors and even Nowegians, although eventually enjoyed autonomous rule until after the War of Spanish Succession in the 18th Century when King Philip V of Spain imposed strict rules and language on the island. At this point the Catholic church ran much of Ibiza’s affairs, including the building of several churches.

Tourism on the island began to flourish in the early 1930s after the introduction of a regular ferry from the mainland, with the subsequent development of major beach resorts in the 1950s transforming it into a major tourist hub. An influx of bohemians in the 1960s, who embraced the island’s mystical allure, greatly added to the island’s creative tilt. Today, Ibiza is a popular hotspot for visitors drawn to its utopian beaches, boho vibe and uber cool nightclubs.

Fully embrace the magic of Ibiza with a dusting of high-end glamor and choose a crewed motor yacht charter or sailing yacht charter.

As a perennial favorite destination for yacht charters in Spain , guests have ample choice when it comes to selecting a crewed charter yacht. Not sure what type of vessel to pick in Ibiza? Let's narrow down the main differences between the two:

Motor Yacht Charters in Ibiza

Charter motor yacht in port in Ibiza, Balearics

A crewed motor yacht charter in Ibiza is an haute-luxe affair. Think superlative amenities and services akin to a five-star hotel, combined with your own world-class chef and unparalleled freedom. Savor the thrill of being able to cruise towards blissfully secluded spots only accessible by boat, and whip out the water toys for a spin on Ibiza's calm coast. Tiptoe down to remote coves ensconced in aquamarine waters for lazy lunches or underworld adventures, before cocooning in your own private paradise.

Sailing Yacht Charters in Ibiza

Moored yachts in Ibiza

The scintillating Ibizan temperatures from May till October provide a splendid climate for a sailing yacht charter. As an island known for its sun-kissed days gently cooled by slight northern winds, navigation is a breeze. Siestas are a beloved part of the rhythm of daily life here, so why not opt for a sailing yacht that mirrors this deliciously slower pace, and make the most of these vessels' wide decks for sunbathing or dining al-fresco.

With so many options available, there’s something to suit every type of budget. For convenience we have listed the average prices for motor yacht and sailing yacht charters in Ibiza below;

  • For motor yacht rentals in Ibiza, prices can range from $35,741 to $2.3m per week, plus expenses
  • For luxury sailing yacht rentals in Ibiza, prices can go from $33,999 to $219,800 weekly, plus expenses

As well as the Ibiza yacht charter fee itself (plus any delivery or redelivery costs), you will need to pay VAT. But how much does VAT cost for yacht charters in Ibiza? Below are the main points you need to consider before chartering:

  • VAT is charged at 21% in Ibiza and the rest of the Balearics (and mainland Spain) for yachts with a Spanish charter license. This applies if you begin or end your charter here
  • EU-flagged yachts can charter anywhere in Spain
  • For non-EU flagged yachts, charters can only take place in the Balearic Islands and Barcelona

A 24% Non-Resident Income Tax may apply if the owning company has fiscal residency in a country that does not currently have in force a dual taxation treaty with Spain

For additional information on VAT and extra fees concerning your yacht charter in Ibiza, please consult your chosen yacht charter broker .

May till the end of October  are the best times to visit Ibiza's pine-fragranced shores. Averaging 23-24 degrees in May, the temperatures start to climb in July and August (Ibiza's peak season) reaching 31 degrees.

Turquoise-sea dips in Ibiza are also invitingly warm, reaching a peak of 26 degrees in August.

Most Ibiza yacht charters will commence in Ibiza Town, where you can arrange for the yacht to be berthed in a slip for the night. There are two main harbors here, with the largest and most well-equipped being Marina Ibiza – home to numerous upscale bars and restaurants as well as celebrated clubs Blue Marlin , Lio and Pacha , great for kicking things off in style.

Ibiza Old Town is also perfect for exploring the island’s cultural roots and guests can spend their first day meandering the winding lanes, awash with colorful daubed houses and cafes that spill out onto the narrow pavements, all adding to the magical allure.

A motor yacht moored in a marina in Ibiza against a bright blue sky

The Ibiza yachting scene is undeniably glitzy and redolent of lives well-lived. With outstanding marinas replete with exclusive restaurants and ultra-chic bars all fringed by waters with a pale topaz glow, it's no wonder berths here are so sought-after. Here are the best superyacht marinas in Ibiza.

  • Ibiza Magna Marina: located in a prime position by the charming Old Town, this marina has over 85 berths for yachts up to 60m.
  • Sovren Marina: situated in the heart of Ibiza, this highly exclusive marina has 16 berths for superyachts between 60m to 185m.
  • Marina Ibiza: stylish marina with 425 berth capacity for yachts up to 110m.
  • San Antonio Marina : nestled on Ibiza's West Coast with moorings for 578 yachts up to 55m.

Ibiza cala Salada and Saladeta in san Antonio Abad at Balearic Islands Spain

For nights not spent in a marina, Ibiza is brimming with beautiful anchorage spots. One of our top picks is Cala Jondal – a long sweeping crescent of sparkling blue waters backed by smoky pines which the superyacht set flock to each year. Another top pick is the urbane-cool of Blue Marlin Beach Club and its billowing ivory cabanas beckon the most discerning jet-setters here, who sip sundowners as an apricot glow dapples the shorefront.

Further north-west, the blindingly pretty Es Cubells is where the glitterati settles for a less frenetic pace. Citrus-scented, the village is populated by clouds of bougainvillea whose petals fall like confetti in front of whitewashed fincas . Jade-blanketed cliffs cradle three quiet coves, so slip on some scuba gear or doze happily on one of its intimate beaches before jumping back on board.

Next, cruise towards the solitude of  Cala d'Hort, a cove that's one part pearly-white white sands to two-parts eye-popping teal sea. You'll have an excellent vantage point here of the ethereal Es Vedrá, a lonely limestone cliff that soars majestically from the water. From your sundeck Jacuzzi, you will also be in prime position to marvel at the sunset perform its nightly arabesques, veering vividly from vermillion to magenta in minutes.

Cala Bassa in Ibiza, Balearics

One of Ibiza's liveliest and well-known coves, golden  Cala Bassa curves sweepingly into a pool of water tinted an unfathomable shade of turquoise. Tanned party-goers saunter down to its celebrated beach club for aperitifs on plumped-up daybeds, before hopping back on their superyacht to reach nearby San Antonio and shimmying till dawn.

In the north, opt for spine-tinglingly gorgeous Cala Portinatx for a glorious strip of unspoiled coastline. Watersports abound here, and hiking trail excursions providing vertiginous sea views of the glass-clear aquamarine shallows below. Seek refuge at  Aguas Blancas , lingering at its tranquil beach and soaking up its laid-back bohemian atmosphere. Pay a visit to the much-loved chiringuito  for a steaming paella after a sun-baked day's subaquatic exploration.

5 of the Best Secluded Beaches in the Balearic Islands

  • Consider chartering a yacht on either side of the shoulder season in Ibiza if you would prefer fewer crowds. This is either April to May or September to October.
  • In the Balearic Islands, anchoring directly above Posidonia (type of seagrass) preservation areas are not allowed, with fines issued if you break the rules. Protected anchorage zones in the Balearics include: Cabrera, Sa Dragonera, Cala Blava, Portopetro, Punta de L’Avançada and Cala d’Or
  • You may find that whilst cruising in the Balearics some bays have color-coded buoys according to boat length. This is to help protect underwater flora and they must be obeyed.
  • Most shops will close each day from 2 pm till 5 pm for an afternoon siesta.
  • If you are interested in experiencing Ibiza nightlife, remember that most clubs do not open till at least midnight.
  • Some coves in Ibiza (such as Aguas Blancas) have areas reserved for nudists.
  • Whilst exploring onshore, it is handy to have cash on you, as a considerable number of small, independent businesses in the Balearics will not accept card payment. Luckily, there are plenty of cashpoints dotted around the marinas.

We strongly advise booking well in advance of your planned Ibiza yacht charter to ensure you get the perfect vessel for your selected dates. We recommend booking at least 3 months ahead to give your broker the time to organize a sublime bespoke yacht charter and book ahead for the nights you intend to spend in marinas. This is particularly pertinent to the Balearics, where fewer West Mediterranean yachts are in the region during peak season, and a Spanish charter license will need to be obtained.

Ibiza Yacht Charter Q&A

For most Ibiza yacht charters to be secured, you will usually need to provide a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee as a deposit. This is payable once the contract has been signed.

You will have a greater variety of yachts to pick from if you decide to start your charter in Ibiza or Mallorca compared to mainland destinations. Whilst Barcelona certainly has a considerable array of yachts to choose from, it is not as extensive as the islands.

We also strongly recommend that you book your yacht charter in Ibiza at least three months in advance to ensure you get the yacht you desire. The longer you leave it, you'll find you'll have less choice available.

There is a yacht to suit almost every budget in Ibiza so rest assured that you will find a vessel suitable to your requirements.

But when booking do keep in mind the costs that aren't included in the base rate, namely VAT and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). The APA is usually paid in advance of the charter and is commonly set at 30% of the charter fee. This allowance covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food and drinks, as well as any special requests.

Please consult your yacht charter broker for any other costs you may need to factor in.

May through till October is the best time to visit the sun-drenched shores of Ibiza. Temperatures can rise to a heady 31 degrees in July and August, with its waters reaching 26 degrees respectively.

Yachts will need to obtain a Spanish charter licence in order to cruise Ibizan waters, this is applicable if you are beginning or ending your charter in Spain.

Find the best Ibiza yacht that meets your requirements by browsing on our website the selection of luxury motor yachts and sailing yachts to charter in Ibiza. All you need to do is pick your chosen dates, number of guests, yacht type, features, and desired onboard toys and we'll show you what's available.

If you make a booking enquiry, a yacht charter broker will then contact you and craft a bespoke charter proposal for Ibiza.

Alternatively, you can contact your  yacht charter broker directly to conduct research on your behalf.

Yes, it is certainly possible to cruise towards mainland Spain. A number of Ibiza charters (that may also incorporate the other Balearic Islands) decide to begin or end their yacht charters in popular mainland destination such as Barcelona, home to a renowned superyacht marina, vibrant Valencia, a mere 50 miles from the Balearics, or picture-perfect Dénia in the Costa Blanca.

How To Book Your Private Yacht In Ibiza

How to Book the Right Private Yacht in Ibiza?

Whether you have decided to have the experience of renting a luxury yacht in Ibiza for the first time, or you have some experience in the industry, it is always helpful to be well-informed before making the choice. There is no denying the fact that the landscapes and coves of Ibiza are quite attractive to those who take ample time to discover the same. From the crystal-clear blue waters of the Mediterranean, the overall experience becomes remarkable.

When you understand the island by sailing across the Mediterranean, it becomes an ever-lasting experience to remember for your life. Once you have evaluated different options of luxury boats you could rent for the trip, you might realize that an extravagant yacht might be the ideal option. The yacht serves to be a private boat. It tends to differ from other sailing options like sailboats and catamarans that are also utilized for day charter and charter services.

A private yacht rental is one of the services wherein you can come across unmatched luxury. Such a service can help in making your vacation top-notch and relaxing. Whether you wish to book the nautical charter for your day or go for something more, you can pay attention to the guide below on how to book your private yacht in Ibiza .

How To Book Your Private Yacht In Ibiza

Model of Rental Yacht You Wish to Hire

The first step in the process of renting a yacht charter in Ibiza is to select the right model of the yacht for your experience. You can choose the best one based on your specific requirements for the entire trip. If you are on a couple’s vacation, you can think about renting a medium-sized speedboat that is around 40-60 feet in total length. Such a speedboat is also fast and sporty while serving great for your purpose.

On the other hand, if you are visiting Ibiza with friends or family, you can come across lucrative yacht charter options of lengths over 60 feet. The yacht should also feature around 3-5 cabins. It should be capable of accommodating a group of around 12 people at a time.

Need for a Crew

For most travelers visiting Ibiza, contemplation of the existing landscapes and ultimate relaxation are topmost priorities. However, there are others who prefer taking the helm by their own hands while navigating the free course of the entire journey. Whether or not you prefer to hire a dedicated crew or skipper for your yacht navigation, it will ultimately depend on whether or not you have the knowledge of essential nautical qualifications or expertise. It is only then you will be able to command the yacht model that you choose.

In Ibiza, a number of boats or yachts between the range of 8 and 10 meters in length are rented with a dedicated crew and captain on a mandatory basis. This is because during the high season, the maritime area between Formentera and Ibiza is quite busy. Even when you will have access to the PER Certificate (Skipper of Pleasure) boats, extensive and in-depth knowledge of the islands and its overall navigation is required for commanding yachts or boats of medium-scale or large-scale lengths.

As your holidays are vacations indeed, you should aim at anchoring with ultimate peace of mind without feeling responsible for the vehicle. You can hire an experienced skipper as well who is capable of presenting professional qualifications. It turns out to be the best option while renting a yacht in Ibiza. The skipper can accompany you and your group throughout the journey while guaranteeing your overall safety and comfort.

Payment for the Port

Along with the nautical charter rate corresponding to the yacht you have thought of renting in Ibiza, you should pay attention to other specific details that might be linked with the booking. Most of the rental boats and yachts in Ibiza feature mooring in the base port. It could be Marina Botafoch, Ibiza Magna, or Marina Ibiza. However, it is crucial that you ask whether or not the same is included in the general price. You should inquire if you are expected to pay for the same individually.

The yacht model that you select might feature a permanent mooring point or base in Ibiza. It could also be handled by port fees for disembarkation and embarkation. It is a great decision to verify all other expenses that should be handled in the form of extras. For instance, these could include bedding (towels and sheets), the use of the zodiac, and so more. Usually, rental yachts or boats in Ibiza feature amenities to receive you –like a dedicated welcome package featuring welcoming drinks, soft drinks, champagnes, snacks, and so more.

Advance Booking

When you are renting a luxury yacht for taking a tour of the entire white island off the Mediterranean, you should be excited about witnessing live adventures. However, you should not leave everything to chance! Renting the yacht in which you will be spending an amazing day or days should be something you should plan out in advance.

Under ideal circumstances, it is recommended to consult the professional company about the different types of yacht models available out there for high-end nautical charter experiences. Based on the results, you can book the desired yacht in advance. In most cases, an advance payment amount of around 20 to 50 percent of the total rental price is expected to be paid –when you are booking the yacht rental in advance.

For more information on yacht rental booking in Ibiza, you can contact our team of luxury concierge services in Ibiza.

How To Book Your Private Yacht In Ibiza

Policy of Cancelation

Another important factor to which you should pay attention before booking the yacht rental in Ibiza is the cancelation policy. You should note that the given touristy service is quite seasonal. This is because during the summer months, Ibiza is known to reveal its best face of tourism. In the given context, canceling policies without any cause can turn out quite strict.

It is recommended to check in advance the availability of the specific data of booking you select for minimizing the overall risks of potential problems. Indeed, if some event takes place (like poor weather conditions), you can easily reschedule your entire tour. Before you finalize the yacht rental in Ibiza, you should clear all possible doubts well in advance.

When you spend time researching, you will realize that Ibiza is indeed a paradise of sand and sea. There are several magical corners for you to discover in this beach heaven.

Decide on the Budget

Before even inquiring about Ibiza yacht rental services, you can have a conversation with the group you are traveling with and decide how much everyone is willing to invest per head. The investment per head will depend on the group’s size and the yacht’s capacity.

Prices for private yacht rentals in Ibiza might start from around €70 per person for a group of around 12 people on a luxury sunset yacht. It would include expenses for fuel, captain, and access to the free bar.

It can be said that the larger the group, the lower will be the total price per head. Moreover, the larger the yacht, the more it will take you to enjoy the trip. You are also expected to think about factors like the duration and timing of yacht rentals. The longer you will be on the charter, the more you will have to pay for the duration.

Prices for yacht rentals in Ibiza also tend to fluctuate –depending on the season. You can expect some heavily discounted prices during the months of April, May, and October.

Renting a yacht charter in Ibiza is one of the must-try experiences on your trip. Hire our luxury concierge services to know more.
