The Outremer 52 has been designed based on the observation of the owners’ needs and uses. While performance and safety have always been the basis for the design of Outremer blue water catamarans, simplicity of navigation and quality of life on board are the two essential components that completes the specifications of Outremer teams. Surrounded by the best naval architects (VPLP), and great names in French design (Patrick Le Quément, Darnet Design, Saguez & Partners), the Outremer shipyard has engineered a smart and seaworthy 52-foot catamaran for the ultimate bluewater cruising experience.

Outstanding visibility

Since the performance of a catamaran is largely determined by its weight, ingenuity was required to build the structure of this new model. An innovative technology developed by the Gunboat shipyard (also a member of the Grand Large Yachting Group), has made it possible to reduce the weight of the structure, while maintaining a high level of resistance. This has made it possible to increase the glass surfaces and openings in the boat that allows crews the reassuring benefit from increased visibility during navigation, regardless of their position in the saloon or cockpit.

Whether for ocean crossing, sailing around the world, or along the coast, this 52-foot catamaran will make sailors and their families feel both safe and comfortable on their liveaboard boat.

Improved user experience

This new model has been designed to make life on board easier in all circumstances. While it benefits from the upgrades of the Outremer 55, such as the different helm positions, the front view from the saloon and the helm bench adapted for two people, the Outremer 52 goes even further. The architectural communication between the interior and exterior living spaces allows for better watchkeeping on board: at the bar area in the cockpit, for example, it is possible to have a meal while continuing to keep watch ahead. At night, watches can be taken from the saloon’s bench which was designed in the direction of the navigation.

Inviting space

Everything has been carefully thought out to allow the enjoyment of every aspect of life on board. The Outremer 52 is a blue water cruising catamaran filled with natural light, offering living spaces adapted to long voyages. The common living spaces have been designed to facilitate circulation on board, to extend the feeling of wide-open spaces and to allow for festive moments with family or friends. The full opening of the bay window allows easy circulation and creates a convivial space between the cockpit and the saloon. The kitchen’s work surface is open to the interior and exterior spaces of the catamaran, and will undoubtedly be a privileged place to meet at any time of the day.

Customized and modular interior designs

To meet the very different needs of each catamaran owner, Outremer has designed a modular space called My Free Space. Located in the port forward cabin, this space can cover five different uses:

• a double cabin
• a convertible office with bunk beds
• a modular cabin, with an office convertible into a workshop, a folding bench and numerous storage spaces
• a dressing room
• a child’s cabin

RIGGING: PERFORMANCE AND EASE OF HANDLING

The decision to move the mast further aft, which comes directly from VPLP’s experience in competition, has numerous advantages for a cruising catamaran.  The shorter boom makes sail handling much easier, the self-tacking jib facilitates tacking, the recentered weight of the rigging considerably reduces the pitch of the boat... a wealth of innovations to facilitate life on board!

With the “faceted” aspect of vertical bows, tapered hull forms, a suspended coachroof, and streamlined rigging, the Lagoon 52 already displays some original flair; yet her originality does not end with her exterior “look,” nor with her interior layout. Important – and in some cases radical – resulting decisions remain faithful to our convictions, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, ease of handling, and of course, performance under sail.

The 52 marks a whole new era in the design of cruising catamarans, as indeed did its predecessor, the famed 500. With its diamond-shaped vertical bows, beveled hulls, its as if levitated deck-house and tall rig, the 52 is no ordinary catamaran, but its originality goes a great deal further than just its "outer" appearance, or even its interior layout. This Lagoon 52F is the result of lengthy discussions between the architects at Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the Italian Nauta Design agency and the Lagoon design department. These discussions led us to make some important and sometimes radical choices, while remaining faithful to what we believe in, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, user friendliness and, it goes without saying, performance under sail. Outremer 52, un catamarano progettato per navigare in tutti i mari del mondo

Novità del 2023, l'Outremer 52 si posiziona come catamarano veloce e adatto al mare, senza spaventare gli equipaggi. Con questo nuovo modello, il cantiere navale offre ancora più volume senza aumentare il peso rispetto al modello 51.

L'Outremer 51 è stato venduto in oltre 100 esemplari e ha navigato in tutto il mondo nelle mani di diportisti amanti delle lunghe crociere . Quando è stato necessario ripensare il modello per farlo evolvere, il cantiere ha deciso di non fare un semplice aggiornamento, ma di inventare un nuovo catamarano . Così, l'Outremer 52 è stato appena presentato al pubblico durante il salone dei multiscafi di La Grande Motte.

Utilizzo del know-how delle cannoniere

Il cantiere Outremer si è affidato alle nuove competenze acquisite con Gunboat, un cantiere che fa parte del gruppo Grand Large. Sebbene non sia possibile costruire un 52 estremo come un Gunboat, in particolare per mantenere il prezzo accessibile, la possibilità di realizzare alcune parti in carbonio apre nuove possibilità per il layout dello yacht.

La larghezza della porta scorrevole che separa il pozzetto dal salone è evidente quando si sale a bordo. La larghezza è quasi raddoppiata! Questo risultato è stato ottenuto utilizzando una paratia in carbonio al posto di quella vecchia in vetroresina.

I vari rinforzi posizionati in tutta l'imbarcazione: paratie dell'albero, pozzetti del daggerboard, ecc. hanno inoltre consentito un risparmio di peso di 1 tonnellata sulla struttura. Questo risparmio di peso è stato utilizzato per aumentare la qualità e il numero di attrezzature. L'obiettivo, apertamente annunciato dal cantiere , è quello di soddisfare al meglio la famiglia degli armatori.

Un piano VPLP

Il nuovo piano è stato affidato allo studio VPLP, mentre il vecchio 51 è stato progettato da Christophe Barreau. Ha guadagnato 45 cm di larghezza e soprattutto molto più spazio abitabile. Così, le cuccette della cabina di poppa, che sul 51 erano molto alte e accessibili tramite 2 gradini, sul 52 sono ora ad altezza standard. Allo stesso modo, il salone guadagna volume con oblò molto verticali e molto più alti per consentire la visibilità a prua, anche in piedi.

Barra del timone o delle ruote

Questo Outremer si distingue per i due sedili del timone sulla parte posteriore di ogni scafo, una sorta di panca che può ospitare 2 persone. Ma se lo scafo di babordo è dotato di una barra davanti a questo sedile, questa non è presente sullo scafo di tribordo, a causa dell'installazione di un sedile per la ruota. Questo stesso timone è inclinabile e offre una posizione di governo alta con vista sulla tuga, oppure una posizione bassa a livello del pozzetto con vista attraverso le finestre del salone. Questa seconda posizione sarà comoda durante i lunghi turni di guardia, ben protetta dalla tuga.

Un vero tavolo da gioco

Tra le dotazioni, il tavolo da carteggio al centro del salone, ai piedi dell'albero, occupa un posto di rilievo. Una vera e propria piccola scrivania, che verrà utilizzata sia per la navigazione che per un computer per lavorare comodamente da casa.

3 o 4 cabine

Il layout offre le classiche 3 o 4 cabine doppie. Nella versione a 3 cabine, la suite armatoriale occupa l'intero scafo di dritta, offrendo un bello spazio per una coppia. Il lavoro svolto dal cantiere per le rifiniture è degno di nota. Sotto questo aspetto, l'Outremer 52 non ha motivo di vergognarsi della concorrenza.
