1983 Olson 30 sailboat, with trailer $9950 Satellite Beach
1983 Olson 30 sailboat, Hull #163, with double axle trailer for sale or trades considered. Trailer has 5 new tires, brakes just gone through, new surge brake actuator. Great phrf racer and daysailer. New North Aramid Technora mainsail (used 7 times!) and brand new UK X Drive 155 genny (used twice! ) with a fairly new roller furler. This boat has 5k dollars worth of new racing sails on her. Spare 150 genny and a delivery mainsail. Two new bulkhead mount compasses, Nautos 39665. Speed and depth on bulkhead, new cascading racing backstay with Amsteel dyneema rope, new outhaul, boom vang, new line on jib car tracks, new deep cycle NAPA battery, Solar charging system, powered by a Yamaha 8 hp two stroke which runs like a top! New impeller and recently tuned. Spinnaker pole and .75 North symmetric spinnaker in good condition. New spinnaker sheets, new main halyard and new Dyneema spinnaker halyard. New spreader tips on mast. Electric recently redone. Porta Potti. Boat is ready to race.

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio
A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

- SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).

Ballast / Displacement Ratio
A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Displacement / Length Ratio
A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The so-called NAC’s regatta is held in co-operation between the Northeast and Great Lakes Regions, and is open to any Olson 30 Class member boats. Each year the Regions choose a venue and dates. Some North American Championships have been run as one-design classes within an existing regatta, for example LYRA. Some years the North Americans are run as a stand alone regatta, for example the 2014 Nationals. The last year for NAC’s on Lake Ontario was 2017, so a few years of layoff since, but 2024 NAC’s are back, in Duluth. “The George” has made its way from Kingston, ON, to Toronto, and will be dispatched to Duluth for the event. See you on the line! The Olson 30 North Americans Are Back for 2024!Save the date. The Olson 30 North Americans are back and will be held out of Duluth Yacht Club and Barker’s Island Marina over Labor Day weekend. With 8 boats locally, this is virtually guaranteed to be the largest fleet of Olson 30s racing together in several years. Throw in a few Lake Michigan, Erie and Ontario boats plus a few more plus changes to the class rules to boost eligibility (see below) and we should have a nice turnout. Racing will Friday – Sunday with a distance race on Saturday. Logistics (launching/hauling , dockage, and mast stepping), along with post-race activities, race committee and trophies, is being covered by Barker’s so event costs to the participants should be very modest.
