Worth every penny! I listed and sold my boat through Ala Wai Yachts in just a few weeks. Emma and Allen were very knowledgeable about boats, the market and local issues pertinent to boaters. If it weren't for them I am certain by boat would still be on the market. It is easy to be happy and write a review when everything goes as planned but I think the true judge of service is the response from a company when inevitably something does go awry. There were a few issues that arose and Ala Wai Yachts handled them seamlessly and professionally. I would sell or buy a boat with this company any day. Not to mention I picked them initially because they were the only brokerage that consistently answered their phone. If someone is interested in buying my boat it seems important to have someone available to answer calls. Thank you Emma!

Emma from Ala Wai Boats was great throughout my purchase of a boat with them. She was very attentive, answered right away, came up with creative solutions to problems, and did what was needed to get the deal done. The sales process was very well done and easy. They met me at DLNR made sure all of the papers were signed correctly and the transfer was smooth. Post sale they continue to be a help and great resource. Would buy from Emma again.

Agreed on a price for a boat. Ask if some one could measure the height and they said I was not the right buyer. Truth is, the agent is a kid that has full access to using the boat and does not want to sell it. I feel bad for the owner. I called and left messages. Cash in hand and they won't sell it to me

Best brokerage on the island by far!!!! They actually have an office, answer their emails, phones calls and sell boats with speed. I've both bought and sold and will continue giving them my business for as long as I'm in Hawaii... hopefully forever!

Do yourself a favor and have nothing to do with Ala Wai Yachts or their Head Broker Sean Doyle. We had the misfortune to have listed a sailboat with this broker for several years and they deserve no stars! We recently requested the return of the set of keys we had provided to Ala Wai Yachts - including dock keys and keys to the boat. After several phone calls and text messages, requesting the return of our keys, or, as we were potentially subject to a $100+ key replacement fee, a reimbursement of the $100 which had previously been verbally agreed to, Sean Doyle, the head broker of this company, told us to "go pound sand." Sean Doyle was full of excuses (a broker left the company and didn't leave the keys), whining (I spent 5 hours of my time showing your boat), and deflection (our brokers are independent contractors, not employees). So in effect, Ala Wai Yachts had keys to our boat for several years and lost them or didn't collect them from one of their independent contractors who left the company. At one point, one of the brokers tried to break into the boat (as reported to us by the marina office). Then, the maraschino cherry on the top of this sundae of horrible, nonexistent customer service was Doyle's crude refusal to dig a little deeper to find the keys, retrieve them from the former "independent contractor," or reimburse us for the marina key replacement fee. Sean Doyle, "head broker" of this firm, is unprofessional, irresponsible, uncaring and crude. Do yourself a favor and have nothing to do with Ala Wai Yachts or Sean Doyle: they are about as far from professional, knowledgeable and efficient as you are ever going to find.

If your going to sell a boat avoid this company like the plague, I listed one of my boats with them to sell at the beginning of this year (08). After talking to a broker there I asked "how are you going to advertise my boat?" he said "we'll post it on our website, put photo ads in Hawaii boats & yachts magazine, put up posters at all the harbors and boating stores (west marine etc)" Well the result was they put it up on there website that if your specifically looking for it, it's almost impossible to find, not listed on any search engines, only got 1 ad in B&Y after I called and called and called to complain, never could find any of the "flyers" that was supposedly posted at harbors or stores. Bottom line: now that gas has tripled in price and recession is the topic in everyones conversation no one wants to go out and spend $100k on a have fun boat DA-YUM YOU ALA WAI YACHT BROKERS

I don't know if it is the difference in the economy or the employees since the previous review but my experience with Ala Wai Yacht Brokerage was quite the opposite! I moved out here with my boat from the mainland, and was happy living on it for a few years. But when I decided I wanted to go back to land life I decided it was more money wise to sell. I showed the boat to AWYB and they were able to get me up and advertised in no time. I was able to sell my boat quickly, and get a great price for it. Any questions I ever had they answered and they were so friendly and easy to work with. I'd recommend them to anyone looking to sell a boat.

If you want your boat to sell for way less than it is worth, list it with these guys. Boats come and go. Integrity....you either got it or you don't.

Mariner 42 Liveaboard

THIS IS A GREAT LIVEABOARD FOR AN INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY.

Gran Mariner 42 is considered a coastal trawler. There is a huge aft cabin and two additional berths located in the vberth in the bow. This is one of the best liveaboards in the harbor. The top deck is carpeted with astro turf and there is a split AC unit which cools the boat down in minutes. Inside there are all the typical amenities of a liveaboard. Full size stand up fridge, clothes washer, queen size bed with second air conditioner. The flybridge has second story views of the surf break and sunsets in the harbor. This vessel could even accommodate a family living onboard.
